Meet Grace Field—Happy Way ambassador, Aussie dietitian, nutritionist and truth-teller when it comes to all things food and nutrition, the health and well-being of both your mind and body and embracing the stuff that fills your cup!

Besides creating wholesome and delicious at-home meals and showing us how to get the most out of the ingredients in our kitchen pantry, Grace understands the importance of eating a well-balanced diet—even during those unpredictable times when hunger strikes and you’re tempted to reach for something that may satisfy the cravings but won’t leave you feeling nourished from within.

We reached out to Grace to get her tips on how to handle those ‘hangry’ vibes and what foods to turn to that’ll pick you up, boosting how you feel both physically and mentally. Grace has also shared her favourite Happy Way products and why she loves including Happy Way as a part of her day. Thanks Grace!

TIPS TO NURTURE YOUR APPETITE

Healthy food to satisfy your appetite

For some, listening to your body and knowing when you feel hungry and how to satisfy your appetite comes easily. Meal times are a focus, and enjoying nutritious snacks throughout the day supplies the fuel needed to function at your best.

However, with all of life’s demands—busy careers, family responsibilities and day-to-day stresses—it can be easy to forget to eat altogether, have a low appetite or not notice the hunger cues because you seem to be always on the go, with very little time for you.

Each day, we need to consume a certain amount of food to meet our daily requirements of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals. Ensuring we get all of these nutrients from a wholesome, well-balanced diet can be difficult if you have a low appetite or eat very little throughout the day. If this is the case, our minds and bodies won’t be getting the nourishment needed to perform daily tasks, achieve our goals, or even operate in a highly functioning way and instead, can leave us feeling super tired and lethargic.

My number one tip is to make the most of your appetite when you have it and choose balanced meals and snacks that are full of flavour and nutrients when the hunger pangs hit. That way, you’re not only filling your tummy, but you’re supporting your mental and physical health and enjoying the food you’re eating too.

A slice or two of buttered toast or a cup of coffee might be quick and easy, but they won’t keep you going or help you feel your best throughout the day. My pick for a healthy daily snack or meal is a smoothie because even in a small glass, you can pack it full of fruits, vegetables, and carbohydrates (think oats or a banana) and easily add a sustainable serving of protein to your day with a scoop of Happy Way protein powder.

MY FAVOURITE HAPPY WAY PROTEIN POWDER

Grace with her favourite Happy Way Whey Protein in Deja Brew Coffee flavour

The great thing about including Happy Way protein powder into your daily diet is that it’s 100% natural, made with organic ingredients and raw superfoods, and filled to the brim with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that boost and support overall health and well-being. They’re also packed with flavour, so they taste amazing whether they’re simply mixed with water as a shake or combined with your choice of fruits, veggies, oats, yoghurt and milk to create a delicious smoothie.

I also love that Happy Way offer both whey and vegan-friendly varieties for those who follow a plant-based diet or perhaps have intolerances to dairy. Happy Way protein powders are not only amazing in shakes and smoothies for a quick, easy and efficient meal or snack, but they’re also a great addition to baked goods and treats like protein balls, overnight oats and brownies. Check out their stacks of recipes here.

My hands down favourite flavour is Happy Way’s Deja Brew Coffee Whey Protein Powder—it smells like coffee as soon as I open the bag and gives me my coffee fix without the jitters or anxious feels of too much caffeine in my day. Another essential in my kitchen pantry is the Vanilla Whey Protein Powder because it literally goes with everything! See my new favourite smoothie recipe below featuring this must-have protein powder.
